Smiths' 'Imperial' Coaches
Stratford Road in 1937 having new underground fuel tanks installed. |

The completed forecourt is now
fully operational under the watchful eye of Mr W.S.L. Smith |

This is how the forecourt looked
in the 60's. Attendant service, shots of Redex and 20:1 Two-Stroke
oil. Memories |

A great forecourt picture probably taken in the
70's. All the coaches are out, 2 have gone to Rhyl for the day, 1 to
Stratford up-on-Avon for lunch, 3 to Ascot for the races.

I
can remember when I was about 12 years old pestering my dad to let me
accompany him to the garage and let me serve petrol on the forecourt.
Even then in 1959 it was illegal but he relented and one of my
first customers asked for 'A couple of gallons of the cheapest' and I
proceeded to fill his car with diesel ! My dad was not amused and
we had to get the car on the ramp and drain off all the fuel & clean
out the carb...............Roger Smith
