| A 32- year old Birmingham family
business has closed because of the recession, making 19 people redundant.
Bush Motor Services Ltd of Chester Road, New Oscott, Sutton Coldfield,
shut after the bank foreclosed on a loan, said the chairman and managing
director, Mr John K. Hardy aged 58, from Streetly.
Founded by his late father, Mr Henry Hardy in 1951, the company
employed 35 people when the turnover was at a peak £2 million a year.

The company which had a Renault
agency, carried out repair work and had petrol sales of between 600,000
and 750,000 gallons a year, was buoyant until 1979 said Mr Hardy.
"I am very, very sad we have had to close" Mr Hardy said.
"When the liquidator came in the workforce cried."
The company was not insolvent but had a cash flow problem. |
